Apple Strudel

A traditional pastry dessert with a rich and vivid history, apfelstrudel (apple strudel) is one of Austria's most popular delicacies. This sweet treat consists Layers of crispy thin pastry, wrapped around soft and tangy-sweet cinnamon- filled with a flavourful apple filling.

 

This apple strudel recipe is very easy to make with apples, raisins, and frozen puff pastry, yet it looks impressive and tastes amazing! A truly delicious fall dessert. I tasted this recipe 2 time that too in Austria trip. It tastes amazing .So I want to try this recipe. It comes out perfect.

 

This mouth-watering Apple Strudel Recipe is I made with store-bought puff pastry dough, with easy four-ingredient fresh apples, golden raisins, sugar and few spices.  It is so amazingly easy to make and just perfect with that hot cup of coffee early in the morning.  It is best to eat the apple strudel served warm. It is often found with vanilla sauce and whipped cream. But the classic version is only sprinkled with powdered sugar.

 

Ingredients:

Frozen puff pastry-1 Sheet

Apples-2

Butter-2 tbsp

Granulated sugar-2 tbsp

Brown sugar-1 tbsp

Cinnamon-    ½ teaspoon

nutmeg -¼ tsp

Raisins-      cup 

Method:

Preheat Oven 180degrees.

1.In a large bowl, squeeze the juice of one lemon (making sure to remove any seeds).

2.Peel and thinly slice or dice your apples, placing them in the bowl of lemon juice and coating thoroughly as you add them to the bowl.

3.In a small bowl, whisk to combine almonds, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg and golden raisins.    

             

4. Roll out the puff pastry into a rectangular shape. Pile the apple mixture down the center of the pastry, leaving an inch of pastry at the sides, and the top apple-free.

 

  5. Fold the top and bottom of the pastry over the apple mixture, then fold 1 of the sides over the top, covering half of the apples.

 

6. Using the butter and milk mixture as a pastry glue,( egg wash ) brush the exposed edge of the pastry before folding the other side of the pastry, slightly overlapping the first half.

7.Roll the pastry over so the folded part is on the bottom and place on a baking sheet. Score the top of the strudel with a sharp knife Diced apples and raisins coated in cinnamon sugar in a clear bowl.

 

8.Brush the tops with melted butter, then bake for about 25 to 30 minutes  in 180 degree until golden brown on top!

 

9.Let your apple strudel cool for at least 15 minutes before dusting with powdered sugar and slicing into  pieces. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and hot coffee.
