A tasty combination of four dals.It is one of our favorite dal in our home.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup moong (yellow dal) dal
1/2 cup masoor (split red lentils) dal
1/2 cup channa dal
1/2 cup toovar (yellow lentil/ pulse) dal
3 onions, grated
2 tomatoes, chopped
1 tsp. Coriander powder,
1 tsp. Garam masala powder
3 tbsp. ghee or oil
Coriander seeds-1tsp
Cumin seeds -1tsp
Red chillies powder-1tsp
Turmeric powder-1tsp
Cinnamon-1stick
Pepper corns-3
Cloves-3
Garlic (crushed)-3
Ginger(peeled)-small piece
1.Wash all the dals together.
2.Add 4 teacups of water and cook until done in a pressure cooker.
3.Grind coriander seeds, cumin seeds, red chillies, turmeric powder, cinnamon sticks, pepper corns, cloves, garlic,
ginger and coriander leaves into a smooth paste and keep aside.
4. Heat the oil or ghee and fry the onions till light pink in color.
5..Add the paste, mix well with the onions and cook for 3-4 minutes.
6 Add tomatoes and mix well and cook for 5 minutes so that the tomatoes are done.
7. Add the cooked dals and salt to taste; stir the ingredients together.
8. Cook for 5 more minutes and , garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.with rice, chapatis.

Masala dal looks perfect....its very healthy too because of adding different dals...good for kids....got the mail u send but i am not able to reply due to some problem ..it failed and returned to me ...anyways Am so glad to know that ur family memebers liked it.....Thank u sooooo much for the lovly words...One more thing am also from mumbai and my parents stays in Kandivalli....have a nice weekend....Enjoy
